As these things typically go, I put the word out a few years ago that I was looking for a new engraving machine - and ended up with a couple of them.
This is a motorized New Hermes Pantograph, serial number 25152.
If these kind of things interest you, this came from a Chicago area Electro Motive plant. A friend into railroad memorabilia has already absconded with the property tag that was on it.
It included a number of different engraving spindles, bearings for the spindles, drive belts, holders/jaws/alignment pieces and not only a full set of fonts but a tray full of other unsorted fonts and a stand.
I have only used it to engrave a few reloading die boxes.
According to the information that is out there on these machines, with proper spindle/cutter selection - this would have absolutely no problem engraving .005" or deeper in steel.
$550
Listed on other various forums around as well.
