Have you considered putting some box traps out for them someplace? Then just having someone check them a couple times a day? You can build a box trap for a squirrel out of almost any scrap lumber you have laying around.

I understand your reasoning, but this has to be the weirdest, creepiest thread on INGO.

I do applaud you for wanting to spend the quality time with your son though. Not enough dads doing that now days.

OP may wish to check DNR regs. Back in the day it was illegal to sell or buy wild game harvested on a hunting license. I haven't hunted in several years now, but that used to be true -- leastwise as I recall.

I recently read up on the rules and regs and it is not legal to trade in tree rats.
I don't like to eat the things. I wish I lived closer because I'd like to bag some for the guy. I think it's 5 a day per person. I'd be glad to thin the tree rat herds.

This is still true the only thing that you can trade, sell or barter is furs from legally taken, deer antlers, deer hooves , deer hides and squirrel TAILS only. It has been this way for a long time and is still this way today. I just sat through a hunter ed class with my oldest boy and they went over this and the laws are the same.
