I never cared for them esp on hunting rifles. When I shoot them in the wild I never have hearing protection on and the brakes seem to magnify the DB rating.

I've had a Browning 7mm Mag with a BOSS brake, and an 280 ER Shaw with a brake, sold both because of the noise, wasn't acceptable for a hunting rig.

My brother runs a JP Enterprises for his 338 Lapua, like it very much.

I shoot 338 Win often, and upgraded a few guns to a Simms Precision Fit Recoil Pads, and better triggers (Rifle Basix on the last few) and haven't noticed the recoil anymore.
