I know I could probally just google this, But does a milspec AR buffer tube have the same threads as a Civilian buffer tube?

I am looking for one for a new build and I see both around, just wondering if it matters or not. (I dont have a stock yet, and I know it needs to match the buffer tube. )

You wont have any problem milspec or civillian (correct me if anyone has ever in their entire life had, or known someone who has had any failure because of a buffer tube). Just know which you have. If you are looking at a magpull stock, you'll need to know which you are using. Have fun.

    Actually my origional question was:
will both civ or mil buffer tube screw into my civ receiver

Ergo: does a civ receiver demand a civ buffer tube, and a mil spec receiver demand a mil spec buffer tube?

There is no such thing as a "civ" receiver. Either extension type will work in any receiver, since as previously stated, the threads are the same. Just make sure the stock body matches the extension type (i.e. mil-spec stock for a mil-spec receiver extension), and you'll be good to go.

    Ok, commercial.
I have yet to get all the "lingo" straight.
    Still learning.
I am in the beginning stages of building my own AR.

I want it to be light weight (my current LMT piston gun seems a bit heavy)

I have already built up a lower, but it is a cheap one I bought during Obama fever, and its out of spec...

I am planning for it to have:
1: a non reciprocating side charging upper receiver
2: light /medium weight 14.5 with welded hider bbl
3: light weight furniture, probally MOE
4: maybe a better lower if one turns up for cheap

Once I get it done, I will trade off my other 18" Armalite AR

    Thats the plans at least.
