Some reports are saying that light from the explosion was visible from Austin (100+miles away). No word on casualties or cause yet.

I kept getting scanner alerts on my phone for Waco but didn't see what the chatter was all about because I figured that with storms moving through and a couple of tornadoes in southwestern Oklahoma that it must have been weather related.

My thoughts go out to the families and everyone involved in this.

My guess is accidental explosion and possibly due to a lightning strike, but who knows at this time.

Sorry to hear about the loss of life.Sounds like it was an accidental fire that got out of control.Not the first at a fertilizer plant in the USA.

Saw the video and looked at the plant on google earth, it is in the town of West Texas. I would say that it is an Anhydrous Ammonia tank rupturing. Nothing else at a fertilizer plant would be that volatile.
