Marlin makes a great rifle, you can't go wrong with any of them, the older the better in my opinion. The model 60 and 39A have probably killed more squirrel than any other gun out there. ;)

    Marlin is a solid brand.

I just bought a Browning BL-22 lever action. I looked at Marlin and Henry, and decided on the Browning. It is a great gun, holds 15 in the tube, 33 degree lever pull, and looks gorgeous. I believe I paid $500, but I will have it the rest of my life and pass it down to my daughters.

For semi auto go with the 795 or 60. Ive had both.

For bolt action go with the 25n which will shoot l,s,lr and feed reliably! Ive had 2 of those.

You cant go wrong with any of them.

I own a Marlin Lever action 30-30 and it is a very nice rifle.

Marlin 795 and marlin 60's are amazing rifles. I highly recommend them. Just be warned, not many upgrades like the ruger 10/22 but I have shot my Marlin 795 against a decked out Ruger 10/22 and blown him away. All I had was a scope and drop-in trigger on mine. Lot of it deals with shooter as well of course but you get what I'm saying. Price on Marlins are AWESOME. Best bang for the buck for 22's IMO.

I gave my Son a Marlin 981 22 bolt and Son in Law a 795. They are both great guns. I have had a 10/22 for the last 30 years. My bud in High School had a Marlin 39. We went through some bricks any of them are good to go!

I own both a model 60 and a 10/22. Both are great. But the stock on the 60 is a little thinner and reminds me of the BB gun I grew up on and learned how to shoot. It still feels so natural.

I will voice my recommendation of the Marlin 795. It has never let me down.

You can find it on sale for around $100.
Not disbelieving you, but where? I thought that I had seen them at Walmart but the Greenfield store said that they don't list them.
