I would welcome every county in Illinois (except those around Chicago) to secede and join Indiana.
Even the ones around Chicago aren't that bad, no worse than Lake County here (although I'm sure there are those would give Lake County to IL lol) it's really just Cook itself that's terrible.

We might have to insist Missouri take the area around East St Louis though.

They have this ridiculous mass transit system IL partnered with Missouri with. It costs a metric ton...

How about leaving out Champaign County also, super liberal area mostly because of the U of I being there. That county became a sanctuary county for illegals years ago. The state rep from that area is a female democrat that votes in lock step with what ever Cook county wants. All in all not a good fit for Indiana. Jim.

How is that good? The doughnut counties are just as bad as Chicago politically, and there are a lot of people there.

IL could have Lake County North of 30.

If we are to properly Gerrymander Illinois. We have to consider what they have that is publicly funded that might have a high taxpayer burden.

Number 1 on that list, is -any- part of Metra passenger rail system.
So that means the new state of Iliniois would include the following Illinois counties.
McHenry, Lake (the IL one), Kane, DuPage, Cook, and Joliet.

Number 2 on that list is the St Louis Metrolink System. However the counties there are weird shaped, and I would want to give a fairly red state a few red IL counties to balance out East St Louis.
So I am thinking. Randolph, Monroe, St. Clair, and Madison would go to Missouri.

I know some in Indiana would want to give IL, Indiana Lake county. That would be a mistake. There is a heavy base of excellent Industrial base in that county up by the lake Indiana has worked hard to grow, plus several lake ports. Plus the Casinos. Massive non residential tax base.

The rest isn't a big issue..

Pritzker again denies appearance of conflict in state case challenging gun ban

confident the law he signed will withstand constitutional scrutiny, though he says he’s not an expert.

    That much is true.
