I would like one of these someday. I have a few ideas I want to prototype and see if they'd be worth developing. I think I will save for one.

Thats awesome. How strong is the plastic you use? And can it use other mediums. Can you print tools and stuff? The price does not seem to unreasonable. Is there particular things you had in mind to make. Sorry for all the questions but these things are pretty bad mamajamaS

I can use ABS and PLA plastic there has been testing with a Nylon filament as well as a wood filament. I can pretty much print anything... there is a cool website called www.thingiverse.com where people upload designs and you can pretty much download and print out anything there I've been doing so custom things at the moment while etill trying to figure out everything as I'm pretty new to this stuff... lol

I have seen things printed in nylon that are phenomenal. I saw an iphone case that had about 9 interlocking gears that all connected and spun together as gears should when one spins. The entire thing was printed on the nylon printer as one item. Freaking awesome.

For ABS you can use acetone vapor to clean it and give a more "finished" look. I pretty much just got mine running good and started making stuff the last week or so. It's not a perfect technology and I've had may share of issues.

Following up on this, as I'm debating one...

Now that it's been a while, do you have any pro's or con's to this particular model? What would you do differently next time around?
