Home ac help please

Got up this am and all was well. Ac running normal. Outside conditions were heavy rain and some thunder. Got in the shower getting ready for work. Got out of shower. Came downstairs to the outside unit running, making cold air, but constant loud humming noise when it is running.

What can I check myself before having to call in a stranger? I'm not a complete moron, but I'm no hvac guy either.

Check air filter to make sure its clean and not causing your condenser to be in the process of freezing up due to not receiving enough return air.

Check your outside unit to ensure the fan blade is actually spinning and not seized up or anything which would cause the outside compressor motor to overheat and die.

Update: a mole had burrowed under the unit causing excessive vibration. Shimmed it up....good as new.

Those look better when they try to out run the hustler. I can't hear anything when im on that mower but I can sure hear the final squeak before 3 blades shred them.

The only good thing I have to say about them is they are incredibly soft and fluffy. Freakishly so for a burrowing creature.

That is literally the only good thing I have to say.
