Looking for an honest review from a fellow INGO’er. Thinking about one for my 308 AR, I am currently running a Sheperd LPVO but am considering the Holosun HE512-GR as a better close quarter optic option.

It's a great optic for the price. I use to have one and only got rid of it because I wanted something with a little more magnification.

    Pros:
    Solar Cell is neat
    Robust and accessible battery tray
    Takes regular CR 2032
    Housing is pretty smash proof
    Great battery life

    Cons:
Scratches easily (though you might suffer this with the titanium models)
Auto-adjust is tied to the Solar Cell so sometimes it blinks in and out when your outdoors
Mount is rail slide on only, no real direct QD option

I run a HE512 Gold Dot with a HM3X... to me it's a lot better option for close quarters when compared to LPVO. Unlimited Eye Relief and its crystal clear. No complaints other than I wish the rail mount was QD in addition to the battery tray.

I have the non-titanium, red 512 in front of a 3x magnifier. For an all purpose social rifle for suburbia distances I think it is ideal.

For longer distances, or simply a more stand off role, I am getting a 1-8.
