Nah jos. I graduated in '90. Hell I carried in the back window of my truck a shotgun and a rifle everyday. I also had a Buck 110 on my belt like all the kids in school at that time.

Maybe slightly off topic...but doe anyone else find it rather alarming that Obama is all about increasing the number of COLLEGE grads, but hasn't said how that's gonna happen while HS graduation rates are still in the toilet?

Yes sir it was and is.
I had some local "city" kids attempt to TP my house. Walked out with the shotgun let one shot fly into the air. Then the boys got in the back of my pickup and we done a tour of lets talk to your Dads at 03:00. Try that anywhere else today...

1977 it was a very good year.

I graduated in 78 but remember my junior year. Ran a trap line every morning before school, carried a 410 single shot shotgun to dispatch whatever stumbled in my traps and kept it in my locker at school during the day. Had a surprise locker inspection one day (looking for drugs) by the cops. Local LEO had me open my locker and asked why the gun was there. Told him about the trap line, his response was to ask if I had caught anything that morning and ask about current rates for muskrat and fox pelts. Gun and ammo in school, today I would make front page national news and i'd never see the light of day. Times have changed. Today if you bring a gun to school you go to jail, if you do drugs in school you can become President of the USA. Fitting though, after that you can ban guns and legalize drugs.
