I have recently branched out from shooting pistols exclusively, and started shooting long rifle. I say long rifle, I mean my Savage Arms Mk II TR with new Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50. It's only 22lr, but this rifle has me addicted!!!!

I am already window shopping for a centerfire rifle. In fact, I will be seeking advice on calibers and rifle models in a forthcoming thread. Before I get too far down "Centerfire Lane" I need to find out where I could actually shoot such a rifle.

I'm located on the North side of Indianapolis, and I am currently a member of Marion County Fish & Game. I shoot my 22lr there but that range(100yards) is even too short for what I would like to do with 22. I want to stretch my 22lr out to 300-500 yards. I also need to find a place to shoot centerfire rifle at distance.

My intent is to learn about long rifle competition and begin shooting in said comps. Currently, I am enjoying learning about ballistics, doping my scope, testing ammunition, and learning how to shoot better. This sport is a far cry from the fast passed, lead hurling, clock racing world of pistol racing!!

I am 26 and currently looking for any and all help that the INGO community can provide.

I know Pro Teq out towards Brazil has a 300 or 400 yard range, but it's a bit of a haul. I'd like to find a place to stretch out my .308 that's a little closer to Indy. Maybe someone else can answer and help us both out.

Welcome to the group, neighbor! :welcome:

Unfortunately there aren't any long distance ranges local. I did know one a long time ago that went out to 500 yards, but my old backyard is now a shopping center! I too would like to be able to take out my old 30-06 and do some nice distance shooting, but the only 300 yard range I know within "reasonable distance" is Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club just north of Lafayette.
