Hi - my name is Toni and I'm not only new to INGO, but I'm new to firearms in general. Just me and my girls in the house and at the encouragement of several of my (military and law enforcement) neighbors and friends, I took my first handgun class and did a few stints at Parabellum range. After that I acquired my first handgun, a Glock 23 4th Gen primarily for home protection. My daughter, whose husband is ex-military and now law enforcement, is going through the 'new gun owner' experience at the same time as I. I never really grew up around guns so there was always a stigma associated with it growing up so of course we never had guns around when my oldest daughters were young. I'm still quite timid around them and being an engineer by trade, am somewhat hesitant unless I'm comfortable I know 100% what to do/how to handle the gun. My daughter and I also have gained curiosity about competitive shooting (eventually to a 3-gun type event).
Besides learning about shooting, I'm also a busy mom of two girls at home besides my married daughter, love to be outside - I whitewater kayak, I ride horses when I can and I love to bike, hike and do 5Ks when time allows. Looking forward to taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge this community offers and hopefully get that comfort level up to where it needs to be. Thanks!
