Hey everyone. New to the site. In the market for my first hand gun and ran across this site. Big hunter, typically with a bow but I do that the 12 ga. out. Looking forward to gaining knowledge and information on my first purchase.
With handguns, you will get a million responses all with their weapon is "the best and the rest are junk". Granted there are some junk pistols out there, but there are many great ones. The first thing to think about is how well the pistol fits into your hand, and how well you can hold, point it, and accurately squeeze the trigger. Caliber is also an important choice, and again it comes down to personal preference. There are those who say the venerable .45 is all there is, then there are some like my crazy daughter that likes both the 480 Ruger and .50AE !!!! Fact is, any is better than none, and getting a first handgun to learn how to use them, and then a second for carry if that is what you desire. Practice with both, but the important words are practice, practice, practice.
