I agree! the more and more I read on here, the more stuff I want or talk myself into needing. I have always used walmart muffs with ear plugs underneath. now i think i will buy

For a good but cheap pair of non-electronic muffs, these are good:

Howard Leight Leightning LOF Ultraslim Earmuffs (NRR 23 dB) Black - MidwayUSA

They are very slim, which helps out when shooting shoulder fired weapons. I also find them very comfortable.
