If you plan on moving at all you will want night vision. Thermal is great but not for navigating and moving around. I had the thermal/night vision debate going on for a while in my head. Ended up with a pvs14 helmet mounted. First time I tried it out I walked for 3 hours in the woods and never needed a light. Walking up and down hills and creeks where no problem. I was impressed how well the aimpoint worked too. I had to extend the stock out a bit but it would work. Add a peq15 and your good to go. I would rather have night vision on my head and maybe a cheaper thermal monocular unit for spotting stuff. Really good thermal stuff is out of most people's price range or at least mine anyway.
