Currently protected but there is talk of a limited season next year in parts of the state. I believe there is still a requirement to notify DNR if you catch one in a trap but in speaking with a CO recently it sounds like they aren’t tracking them so they probably don’t care much.
Old thread, but didn't want to start a new one just for this.
I was out turkey hunting yesterday morning in Dubois County and accidentally called in a bobcat! It attacked my male turkey decoy before quickly finding out it wasn't going to make a very good dinner. I was lucky enough to snap this poor quality picture on my phone. I later ran into it again (assuming the same one) to find out we were tracking the same turkey up a creek bed. We knew they were present in the county, but none of my family had yet to see any on our 500+ acre property.
Thanks for the pic. Saw one last week around 5:00 a.m. near my place in Brown county. I see plenty of sign (tracks) but only seen one a few times her in the county.
Dnr is supposed to make a decision tomorrow on bobcat season, if they wuss out and don't pass the rule change, well let's see what happens before I rant.
