Did some searches but could not find a comprehensive post.

I am looking for a gun for my wife. She will likely carry in her car. If she carries it on her person it would likely be in her purse.

    I have been considering a S&W or Taurus .380 revolver, Kel-Tec .380

By goal is to get something for her that is simple to operate but has enough stopping power in case she has to use it.

    Suggestions?

The usual advice is to take her shopping, let her try different things (and if you can get he a chance to shoot different things, such as using the rentals that are available at some ranges), and find the gun that she's happy with.

My wife carried a Bersa Thunder 380 in her purse for about three years, until she went to the gun store with me and found a Sig 232.

All of which inspired the aforementioned Stickified Thread in the Women & Firearms forum.

If you're looking for a one-size-fits-all handgun for your wife, you won't find it. How did you buy your first handgun? Did you just get what your friend told you to get or what the shop keeper told you that you should have without doing any kind of research first?

    Sorry.. I'll :chillout: now.

*wanders back to her hidey hole*

Before you decide and shell out the money, remember that there are trade-offs to any handgun purchase......

longer barrel..... better sight radius, harder to conceal, less recoil

alloy frame...... lighter for carry, more perceived recoil due to less weight

    .....and like that.
