I have a gen2 vortex spitfire prism on a shorty AR and love it. I have mild astigmatism in my right eye, which causes red dots to be fuzzy and look more like commas than dots. The Spitfire reticle is perfectly clear. It does have red and green illumination, but I haven’t found much use for the green.

    not a Vortex fan...but I am a Holosun fan.

In my mind you can pick anything Holosun and be into a winner.

That and add the solar powered possibilities, what's not to like.?

I get a lot of star bursting of red dots (even my UH-1 holographic). Prism scopes avoid that. Etched reticle is nice, too. With the spitfire (or any etched reticle prism), there's an option of no illumination (black dot and two concentric circles) or red/green illumination.

Some discussion over here of red dots: https://www.indianagunowners.com/threads/red-dot-optics….511400
That UH-1 is a bit over your budget, but the spitfire is kinda cool. I haven't used it on anything except paper... yet.

Edit: There are also advantages of red dots over prisms, too.
For what it is worth, I tried a bunch of different budget red dots, and the Holosun 503 has way, way less starburst to my eye. I think the circle dot tricks your brain into reconstructing the image differently than a plain dot.

I really want to try out PA’s new microprism offering though.
