I was at Fort Wayne Apple Glen Walmart on Friday night and noticed they had WWB in 100 round boxes for .40 cal at $28.98. I stopped by Huntington Walmart yesterday to pick up a few boxes and it was $30.98!
I asked the girl behind the counter why the price difference and was told, "This is Huntington, not Fort Wayne." Gotta just love that.

Yep, it is common that various Walmarts have slightly different prices on ammo and other products. I usually go to the one that gives me the better deal, which is usually the one closest to my home.:yesway:

Doesn't Walmart match their competitors prices? If so, it would seem like a no-brainer to match their own. :dunno:

Different Wal Marts in Indy will have different prices on items. They say it's b/c of the socioeconomic status of the area the store is in. Whateva..... :dunno: Wal Mart is not the only store that does this btw.

Yes and yes, provided it's a store within 50 miles they are matching. In this case, since there is no flier, they will call the other store.

    Walmart sucks though.

I bought a Box of 40's from there today. I feel your pain. Another annoyance about the Huntington walmart is there is never anyone at the sporting goods counter. So it takes forever to get ahold of any one. Then they have to get the person with the key which takes even longer. But they usually have 40 s&w and 9mm in stock, and they are cheeper than buds, so i guess I have to bite the bullet... pun intended. Man it would be awesome to have a nice gun store in town.

This is standard for almost every Walmart.

It's this crazy thing we have here called capitalism. Wal-mart is really a text book example of capitalism. They price their goods based on the market (supply and demand and competition) in a given area. I learned in college that I could skip the Wal-mart in Bloomington and go to the Wal-mart in Bedford, Indiana and save 10%. Sometimes that made sense. I do not know if that comparison still holds true since that was 20 years ago.

A Wal-Mart manager I knew several years ago told me there were five levels of pricing depending on how much of their perceived competition in various department areas they've put out of business. Obviously, if the prices are lower at location B than location A, they've done better at their goal of world domination at location A and are still working on it at location B.

Brownsburg Wal-Mart has their Federal 9mm boxes of 50 rounds at $9.47.
Avon Wal-Mart has theirs at $10.47.

So of course I get them at Brownsburg. I'm not going to pay a dollar more a box. :D

Sorry to hear that you don't have a good gun store in town... Thought that I would speak up on your point that no one is ever at the sporting goods counter. All the walmarts that I have been in lately never seem to even have a person in the sporting goods area! When I was a kid I would skirt mom and hag out at the sporting goods counter and listen to the guy B.S. what has our times come to?

I am always amused at how much everyone knows about wal-mart and their policies. I do really enjoy wal-mart considering they pay me a very good amount of money each year to manage a store.

I don't understand how people who believe in protecting america can say anything derogatory about Wal-mart. It is a poster child for capitalism. Wal-mart fights unionization and buys from the cheapest suppliers. That is almost always China. Cheap chinese made junk at low prices everyday. When I want cheap, I go there. When I want to support a local business or buy support local suppliers, I do not. Appreciate Wal-mart for what it is, an international symbol of capitalism.

If you ever want a surreal experience, however, go to the Paoli, Indiana Wal-mart. The floor is not polished, it is slightly rough concrete. The flourescent lights are not bright enough and they hum. The people are from what was the poorest county in the state before the casino opened. I will guarantee you that with the gray floor and the gray humming lighting, you will feel like you just entered the twilight zone.

I have nothing against Wal Mart. They still sell ammo when other wussy chains these days don't. Kudos to Meijer for the same reason. I also like the big women stuffed into tights, standing in the checkout lines, too. ;)

I have been known to poke fun at wal-mart, even though I have nothing against them. But then again I poke fun at rednecks too. You see, I have redneck ancestry, so It's OK :D
