Now now, let's look at the time line: Little Timmy wants a Vepr 12 but doesn't want to pay the $1,000+ price tag. So despite EVERYONE screaming what a great deal these are, he decides to wait. Meanwhile the fixed folder becomes available but Little Timmy STILL won't cough up the grand or so for the new model, meanwhile the price comes down on the wood/plastic stock.

Then by some miracle they go on sale across the interwebs. Fixed folders for $799! But Little Timmy remains a clueless dumbass and figures he will wait still longer. Then Ukraine erupts and for weeks thinking folk posit the possibility of import bans from Russia. It's happened before and will happen again. But no, Little Timmy has better things to do.

So Veprs are banned from importation and some folks decide to list guns for 25-30% above the original list and equal to what many retailers are selling them for and Little Timmy is mad as heck ant these evil exploiters.

Little Timmy sounds like a tight A$$, and should get a different hobby. This one is expensive.
I get what you're saying, I have seen this happen with my co-workers, when you could not find an AR cheap (post sandy hook), they expected me to sell them some of mine for what I had in them.
Why would I do that? To set them up to flip them and make money? I can do that myself. If people can't follow advise, just like now, I've been telling the same guys, now is the time to buy an AR, not Nov. or Dec.

Have they bought any AR's? Yes 2 of the guys did. The others have no interest until they think you won't be able to get one anymore.

But, but... the guy with the 54R Vepr explained that his hands were tied. He HAD to charge that much. Supply and demand you know. Besides, he's obviously saving up for a digital camera since he couldn't even afford one to post a picture of it.

I never said my hands were tied sir. It will go for that much. Is it price gouging? not at all. Hopefully I will be able to afford that digital camera after I sell it! I cant wait!!!

That's interesting because I just saw one go for 1600 last week on gun broker. are they going for that now? No but they will.
I read about somebody paying $28,000 for grilled cheese that looked like the Virgin Mary. I'll upgrade you to Jesus toast if you'll buy it from me. Do we have a deal?

Just because one person is an idiot with cash to burn doesn't mean we all are.

Not one point did I call you or the general public a bunch of idiots. I'm not the one who is getting butt hurt over a guy posting a gun on the classifieds. There are plenty of people out there who have money to burn, if you are not then Im guessing you wont be making an offer on my rifle..

You're peddling fear, just like the guys with their $1500 carbon 15 rifles a year and a half ago.

I think the reason people get "butt hurt" on here over stuff like that is these forums are designed to have somewhat of a community feel to them and it's considered bad etiquette to gouge. I've met a lot of great people on here, have had all kinds of things loaned and even parts given to me when I was in a pinch for something. It's why there is a 50 post count rule for the classifieds, to help weed out the folks that would like to turn it into hoosier topics or armslist. At least with gunbroker, its an auction so people are bringing the pain onto themselves without the seller looking bad.
That said, I have no problem with someone asking whatever the hell they feel like for their property. Caveat Emptor, and if folks didn't see the writing on the wall with this EO coming, it's their own fault for not paying attention. I was just kind of waiting to see who the first person to be "that guy" would be and didn't mean anything malicious about it.

I was being (kind of) facetious. See traderator's post #113. Your gun, so it's your right to ask whatever you like of course. I just think a lot of us are still a little ticked at the last gouge-o-rama brought on by Sandy Hook. No hard feelings! The bit about not posting pics is just a pet peeve of mine about the classifieds in general. Can't see dropping a big chunk of change on a "pig in a poke". :)

Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Not what someone else thinks it's worth who isn't buying it. If a guy sells a gun for $1,300.00, and you think it's only worth $1,000.00, then the gun sold for $300.00 MORE than you think it's worth. Your thought process has nothing what so ever to do with the deal that just went down.

So you have never made deal where it benefited you in anyway? Just because I am going to make a couple dollars on a firearm does not mean I am a crook. I wouldn't trust anyone I don't know around my family (especially someone i met on the interwebz), but that is just me.
