It’s probably true actually. Seeing that democrat cities no longer prosecute criminals. Many of these cities no longer arrest on many felonies. Therefore arrests and convictions are down therefore on paper crime is down. Reality is another thing, but democrats only concerned on making it look good on paper.

Man….if all that came from only 6 beers you need to find a better beer. :lmfao:

I drink 6 beers with my lunch sandwich.

Try Killians Irish Red or Dundees Honey Brown….Just a suggestion.

Rule of thumb, if you can see through your full beer glass, you aren’t drinking beer. :lmfao:

The DNC's solution to crime: Don't prosecute criminals. Dismiss charges. No charges. No convictions. Voila, no crime. It's just that simple. Ask the former Saint Louis Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner (who was finally ousted by the Missouri Governor and his AG). That was her strategy. She was responsible for the dismissal of 30,000 felony charges. That significantly reduced the reported "crime rate", including violent crime, and gained her 30,000 loyal voters. There's still the possibility of criminal prosecution for embezzlement of public funds from her office. That investigation is ongoing, but piecing together the office's books accounting for money is like piecing back together a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

You bunch of weenies. We live in a utopia now with the steady hand of President Biden at the helm. We really do need some reeducation camps for you naysayers.
    Funny you should mention that.
Listening to Clay and Buck the other day and they were discussing Bidens tanking poll numbers.
Seems Biden is thoroughly upset about his poll numbers and blames his staff!
He seems to think that his handlers aren't doing enough to communicate all of the good things his administration has done during his tenure.
If they would only communicate more about all of his successes...

He's being lied to daily, just like the rest of the country.

FBI crime stats aren't just convictions. An incident of theft is a crime and goes into the crime statistics. That theft may go unsolved, but it's still a statistic. The link above is misleading gaslighting.

They cherry picked the data I suspect. First, the article states that crime has gone down for 2023. That's a red flag off the bat because 2023 is not over. Later in the article, it says this:

The FBI data, which compares crime rates in the third quarter of 2023 to the same period last year, found that violent crime dropped 8%, while property crime fell 6.3% to what would be its lowest level since 1961, according to criminologist Jeff Asher, who analyzed the FBI numbers.

Okay, Jeff Asher, why did you pick just the 3rd quarter to compare? It's the last complete quarter, sure. And I haven't verified that those claims are even correct, but let's assume they are. A quarter's worth of data is at most a data point. Not a trend. If they were trying to establish a trend to support statements like "Murder plummeted in the United States in 2023 at one of the fastest rates of decline ever recorded" you'd want to show enough data to show it's trend.

On top of that, crime spiked during covid. More murders, more theft, more assault. So if in the 3rd quarter, we find that crime returned to its pre-pandemic, pre season of love levels, any use of the word "plummet" is disingenuous. This article is trying to gaslight people.

Another thing. The article suggests that it's social media causing people to believe that crime is high. But crime has been high during the pandemic especially 2020 and 2021. Murder, arson, assault, property damage, all spiked during the pandemic, and fell only 2% in 2022. Yes, social media is likely responsible for people believing crime is high. Doesn't mean they've been gaslit by russian bots. But, corporate media is gaslighting.

I could go on with the problems in that article. Really want to talk more about how they used just 3rd quarter data to debunk a 3-year trend which has created a belief that crime is high. But I'm trying to ration my werds for the day.

I strongly suspect the purpose of the gaslighting is to gen up support to control free speech on social media.

If I was on vacation 50% of the time at locations only millionaires can afford, I would probably think things are good also.

Just think of how much better it would be if he was on vacation only 25% of the time!

I don’t know if it is true or not, but I recall a news segment several months ago saying that in some cities people were no longer reporting some crimes since no one would be arrested much less prosecuted. So all that would happen would be to tick off the perp.

I have come to the conclusion that socialists practice a ”new math” that mysteriously supports their agenda. Further interesting is that many (most) liberal demoncrats have taken up this new method.

I think they learned that from the covid days.

Okay. I guess I can spare some more of today's ration of werds.

Those crime stats are voluntarily submitted by police departments. I can say from past experience that data entry is not LE's strongest competence. If they submit data at all.

But, in terms of statistics, if the rate of submission and the rate of bad data remain constant, the crime stats can be used to compare to other time periods reliably. Journalists just need to be honest about analyzing it for what it is. They weren't honest here.
