Why did every report of this on the radio also include a "No drugs were found in the home"?

Did she have a history with drugs? Why mention them for someone that died of cancer?

    Yes to the history.
She had gotten into legal trouble on multiple occasions because of her drinking and drugs.
She may have died of cancer, but it's doubtful that the drugs and drinking increased her likelihood of survival.
