Donald Trump, NJ agency partnered to take elderly widow’s home for limo parking
Donald Trump once used his influence in government to condemn an elderly widow's Atlantic City home, so that the land could transferred over to him so he could make a "limousine waiting area" for his elite clients at Trump Plaza.
Vera Coking was the property owner, and had raised her children there before the passing of her husband, and before the area was surrounded by towering casinos. When she was threatened for eviction by the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), she resisted the land grab in court. The Institute for Justice took up Vera Coking’s case, as it embodied a prime example of abuse of property owners.
Her home is pictured to the left, and the gaudy Trump Plaza to the right.
Check out this interview with Trump and John Stossel. It really says it all.
“Everybody coming into Atlantic City sees that property,” Trump said. “And it’s not fair to Atlantic City and the people. They’re staring at this terrible house instead of staring at beautiful fountains and beautiful other things that would be good.”

Trump ended up losing this case, and Vera Coking kept her home. But Trump's true colors were put on display for all to see. He has no respect for the rights of others, and has always been eager to use his crony influence in government to bully Americans for his own profit. This man should never be allowed to be in power.
