Watched two little bucks this morning that were begging to be shot, but gonna let them grow a few more years and hope the bigger bucks start coming out to play soon. Sounded like a few guys set their watches ahead a few minutes. First shot I heard this morning was 7:02. :draw:

7:02 would have been a legit shot in Martinsville. Sunrise here was 7:32.

Heard probably 20 shots throughout the day. Had six does within range, but they were all small. Kept hoping something big would come through trailing them up. Maybe tomorrow. Good luck to all and be safe!

Got a little bit of meat in the freezer. Shot a little button buck this afternoon. Now I just need the biggun to walk by in the next couple of days.

0700 was legal shooting time in Morgantown. According to the weather channel. Suppressed 6.5 Creedmoor took a big mature doe at 0815 here.

No good shots, but I had fun. About 7:40 I almost got overran by 4 spooked does. Later on I crawled around on my hands and arthritic knees to get a shot at a couple of does on the eastern fence row. Baby yearlings, though. No bueno.

Still, a great opening day. And no battle of Gettysburg at sunup, as in some years in the past.

Had a nice 8 pt walk in about 7:40. Couldn't pass it up. Shot placement was not my best but we'll take it. :ingo:

Got out to the property around noon. Didn't hear anything until dusk, still didn't hear many and my property is surrounded by deer stands. Heard more shots well after sundown than I should have. :xmad:

Took these two on the early state park reduction hunt at turkey run. My buddy also took a buck and a doe. Was quite the workout dragging them all out.

I’m new to hunting. This is my second year (I started last year) hunting last year was rough with lots of mistakes that left me completely empty handed. Early archery this year was filled with more mistakes. But had a little bit of a turn around. Took a nice size doe and a button buck today (that I thought was a small doe)

Coyotes are also in season, as well as other fur bearing critters.

Passed on a fox, a spike and about 1,000 squirrels this morning. My brother took a doe, and shortly after said he saw a monster buck, but did not have a shot.
