    They moved it inside because the weather tends to be rough on the sub.
    Plus, then they could add the entire display, and you could see the outside better.
    Before, you could only see the outside from a small window.

    Fall River, Massachusetts has a great naval museum. I've been there a few times.
    Battleship Cove: Fall River, MA: Naval & Maritime Museum

    They have a battleship, destroyer, submarine, and others.

    Mobile, AL has a sub, the USS Drum, and the battleship USS Alabama, among lots of other really cool exhibits, including an A-12, which at the time I mistook for an SR-71.
    I didn't even know it was there when my then living first wife and my little girl went to Alabama for a vacation, and we were blown away with how great this museum was.
    The Drum was outside, and we walked all over the inside and outside of it...fascinating.
