I want to start saving for an AR-15.
Does anyone know if it would be cheaper to order a part here and there over time and assemble it myself; and does anyone know how difficult it is?

is the easiest gun to build and i turely be surprized if some one couldnt figure it out but alot of annoying dentent springs some times go flying across the room so buy extra's...... now cost its really no cheaper than going out and buying one you may actually spend more however you will have a better quality rifle to the same price

It is not necessarily cheaper (you'll have to purchase some tools), but you can spread the cost of the rifle out over time. You'll also have exactly what you want, versus having to swap out parts on a stock rifle.

However, my advice: buy your first, build the rest.

This way you have a shootable, warrantied rifle right way. If you later decide to build another, you'll still have that one to shoot.
