Bipod on a mini 14/30

Anybody have experience putting a bipod on these?

I've seen one adapter that replaces the gas system screw but I'd rather not mess that much with the hardware.

Probably more than you're lookin for, but I replaced my Mini-14 stock with a Tapco which had a normal sling swivel to hold the bipod. I've switched back to wood and steel.
