I never had the pleasure of maintaining F-4's but I did enjoy watching them take off at El Toro while I was working on our A-4's.

I took a ride in one of those side jump seats back in the late '70's.
What a rush to see the ground going by at 150 mph while in a bank and you're hanging on that 5-point harness.

If by recent you mean 50 years ago sure. I personally think the F22 is a beautiful aircraft.

To your point though, it is hard to believe that the Eagle is a 50 year old design. It holds up well. The F22 is good looking too. The F35? Not so much

agreed. The F35 is just... off. But in all honesty I love the A10's utilitarian appearance. All business, no finesse. A hammer designed to be the best hammer ever made.
