Sometime ago I perched an AR lower from a dealer, did it all legal. The dealer called it in as a pistol, telling me that I can build it either way. The dealer said I could build either as long as it was called in as a pistol, but if it was called in as a rifle, no way legally build it into a pistol.

Was he correct, his phone has been disconnected, or did I screw my self. :dunno: I just want everything to be correct. I was thinking about a SBR and don't want to lose it to bad paperwork.

If it was a stripped lower receiver, it should have been listed on the 4473 as a "receiver" with the "other" box checked (as opposed to "handgun" or "long gun"), and called into NICS as an "other".
