For 10 years Charles Daley imported Armscor (Philippines) 1911's and rebranded them as "Charles Daley". These pistols were of varying quality ranging from very bad to pretty good. These are the exact same pistols RIA imports currently.

Once Armscor made its intentions to market their own pistols in the US known, Charles Daley split from Armscor and went to Bul Transmark Ltd in Israel. These are the makers of the Bul M-5 polymer 1911's.

They now make the all steel 1911s for Charles Daley. Bul is a fairly new company, originally making bullet traps and indoor ranges in Israel. Later they decided to get into the gun making business (1992). They started off with thier M-5 pistol. It's not been a huge success in the US, probably mostly due to marketing and traditionalists prefering steel framed 1911's.

What I've seen of their pistols is pretty favorable. I would rather have a Bul 1911 than an Armscor personally.
