I found 75 rounds in a plastic box of 100 .22 in my barn a couple years ago with a K-mart sticker from what I’m guessing was the early 80’s. The casings were fine, bullets had some light surface corrosion, but they all fired just fine! That had to be sitting out there in ALL types of weather, humidity and seasonal changes for years.
I’d obviously never treat my ammo that way, but it definitely surprised me!

I have a crap load of 22’s shorts & CB caps my dad had before I was born and I’m 56 and they shoot just fine. He loved the shorts and CB caps for squirrel hunting.

I've heard in reloading if the powder smells funky not to use it. Shooting some aged ammo we had a few that didn't fire. Pulled the bullets, they didn't have a funky smell it stunk. Replaced the primers, poured the powder back in, reseat the bullet. They shot fine.
