Left side charging handles???

It can be done. Mine stunk for other reasons, but the left side charging was awesome.

There's a product out there called the lightning bolt, and I'm pretty sure that's it. Kind of pricey, but the idea is you can keep your trigger hand on the weapon while clearing a jam. It's also vented on the right side too, like all normal ak's, so it supposedly helps cool the bolt as well.

The idea is geared more towards reloading speed, as you can keep your hand on the pistol grip with a standard AK just fine.

Personally, I prefer the traditional style.

I posted these in General show and tell, so sorry for the repost. This is my 1st AK build. I took advantage of the $99 kits at Centerfire when they had them. This is a 1979 (my birthyear) Romanian Guard kit that I built from a flat. It turned out great and shoots even better.

I hope to hear the true translation/story too...I did see somewhere it translated into "audacious blow", but I'm most likely in left field.
