Advice on Black Powder

I have a 50 Cal. Hawken Kit rifle that I put together about 20 years ago. I haven't shot it in at least 10 years and would like to shoot it this year. Who or where is the best place or person to have it checked to make sure it is still safe in the breech or am I being too cautious?

Should be fine but if you are still concerned clean it up real good & carefully inspect it prior to shooting it, since you built the kit yourself you should have a pretty good idea of if it's still serviceable or not.
