Why were the starting HHFs not the same as Carry Optics? It seems like LO HHFs are inflated as if major PF scoring is used. Eight stages, 19 shooters (152 attempts) and only 2 scores above 75% in LO.
The divisions are different, and it is not just the guns.
Figuring classifiers have reloads, magwells make a difference. A single action trigger is faster than a double action trigger, which you take this into account that CZ type of guns have dominated the CO (and Production Divisions where the initial HHF for CO came from). The holsters can be race holsters, their position can be further from the body, can mean a faster draw.

CO HHF currently have about 30% of them that need to be adjusted because the division is still growing and all of the original HHF were taken from Production. To apply them directly to Limited Optics would results in many being way too low. Instead the HHF from Limited and Carry Optics were averaged out for each classifier. Then each HHF was compared to CO HHFs and the stage to see if it made sense. This was also looking at the recommended changes the system has for CO. Again about 30% of them based on averaging the top ten scores submitted need to be adjusted.

The HHF are based off the scores submitted, so if a classifier isn't shot by the top ten guys in that division then it isn't an exact science on generating the number. Even if you use the top ten guys from Nationals on a stage that might be used for a classifier, you understand that they are not going hero or zero at Nationals on that stage, they are shooting 90-95% of their ability. It is still a manual process.

Taking the average of the division where the guns are similar, Limited, and averaging it with the CO minor scoring gets you a lot closer to HHF. Then you monitor the HHF's and see what needs to be adjusted.

Jake this is great information, thanks for taking the time to explain this. As we discussed at the match Sunday when we were discussing the thought process behind a few other things. More posts or press releases like this is needed for other changes or modifications in USPSA. IMO

I switched to Associate member to quit getting the magazine. Plan was to just read what I wanted online.
I can't read the online magazine without subscribing to the printed magazine.
When associate membership was created in was designed for households that had multiple members that didn't want duplicates, "associate" of another member. Printing and shipping is only part of the cost to produce the magazine. Articles and photography are compensated to the people that are members and submit them. The graphic artist that is 3rd party that lays it out etc
