So is NFA weekend always the same weekend? I had to withdraw because a guy senior to me at work takes his birthday week off.
So if it's always the same weekend, then I'm screwed.

Been wondering this ever since my NFA day a couple of years ago but never posted the Question. I know there is a cost to LOVEMYWOODS in hosting the event (wear and tear on his range and Property) and I know he gets help in that area in Manpower etc. But I am curious about the vendors. Those that attend must purchase ammo to PLAY. There must be some wear and tear on the weapons. So I was wondering if any of the vendors incur any additional costs associated with putting so much lead down range? It would appear to me that there is also some risk also, I mean if something broke on say an MG 42 it might be very hard to find a replacement part or cost a fortune to have something custom made to fix it.

Tagged for the answer. Those are great questions and I was kinda wondering the same.

Thanks again to the whole Rice family, we sure do LOVE your woods!! And thanks to all the vendors for providing the goodies for us to play with and dive into the NFA world. I did notice a little bit difference in attitude between Profire and TheUziButton. Since Profire had post '86 dealer samples, the attitude on the AKs was "light em up! Burn em down!". Where as TheUziButton was a little bit more careful with his since they are pre '86 transferrable items. Now no disrespect to profire (if it came off that way) it is just you could tell a little bit that there was a different attitude towards items that are post '86 can't be a part of a private collection. That is one of the biggest things i learned at Noob day, what the difference is between 3 identical guns that have 3 different prices.

Vendors not only incur costs related to travel (gas, hotel in some cases), but also in labor (if paying helpers), and wear and tear on guns and support gear. Every year we've got parts that need replaced, many times right on the line. The MG42 had an issue this year that took about 30 minutes to fix. Risk is also a big factor. And not just in the risk of breaking expensive firearms, but also the risk of accident or injury to participants.

As noted above, there is also a difference when it comes to transferables versus post-samples, in terms of risk.

I tell attendees that NFA Day "is the most expensive FREE event you'll ever attend". This holds true not only because it will likely cost them lots of $$ when they invest in their own NFA items, but also because it takes a lot of $$ and energy to make it happen. If you were to add up everyone's contributions and assign a dollar value I bet it would be surprising. But we make it work because we can spread out the load amongst many different willing helpers. THIS is why INGO is so great.

Profire brought our toys out for all of you to enjoy! We brought several post-dealer samples, as well as hemicharger and I bringing some things from our own personal stash. We brought them for the sole purpose of use and abuse and the smiling faces. As Esrice stated, we incurred all the maintenance and cost for these weapons as well as all the risk. I personally spent 4 hours cleaning just the 2 firearms I brought! There was a tremendous amount of planning and preparation that went in to getting everything to run up to standards. We tested the MG42 several times and tweaked it to ensure a properly running machinegun, ammo was sourced and stockpiled for the event, as well as various other little task that add up to a mountain! Through everything from RSO'ing the range and keeping track of who wants to shoot what, which guns need to cool down from a mag dump, maintaining safety standards, and keeping hydration up....I was beat! And that was only Profire's part!! Lovemywoods and Mrs. Lovemywoods, Esrice, on site EMT, RSO's, event orginizers, and other vendor's/collectors... I hope everyone had a complete mindgasm by shooting everything and enjoying the hard work that went in to it! For such a "small" event there was certainly a ton of planning and coordination that had to be done. And as Esrice also stated, if you figured the dollar amount of goodies that were there.....you could probably by a house, with land, and a makeshift small range for the same price!

Thanks for the reply! Was not looking for an exact dollar amount just a roundabout idea of additional costs. And get a better appreciation of what is involved in putting on this event. Still sounds like most of this is way out of my current budget but there is always hope!

I finally had a minute to grab some photos off of my SLR tonight so I'll post 'em up. I didn't any of the stuff Uzi does to his, these are straight from the camera. Should be close in chronological order as well.
Uzi is the Artsy Fartsy photographer, I'm more of the documentary style I guess. :p

Anyone wants a link to the album, it's here: https://picasaweb.google.com/114882...&authkey=Gv1sRgCLa_gOrEubKPKg&feat=directlink
I believe you can download a full res copy of your pics there if you'd like.

First shot of the day was a tad out of focus =(
