Just stopped at the Kroger at 146th st. and Hazel Dell, they had a bunch of Smithfield Pork butt bone-in shoulders on manager special for $1.15/lb.

I picked up a couple, but they had at least a dozen in and aisle endcap and a few in the regular meat section.

I would have gotten a couple more, butt lack freezer space.

Did a chicken today. Bourbon Peach rub, it was pretty tasty.

I've been told that I'm wrong and the Bourbon Peach rub was in fact not good.

I keep it around for hydration. Basically like bottled water.

Smoked some red taters and garlic cloves for awhile, boiled to finish, and mashed. Fried up some blackened walleye on the griddle.

Oh, and those cheeks.

Neighbor's wife is having a surprise birthday party for him tonight and asked me to smoke some butts. Wasn't expecting her to drop off 6 of them, but we'll get 'em cooked.

Having a grill with wifi and smoking from the comfort of my office, 25 miles away, is sure hard work.

Even get notifications from the grill on my Garmin smartwatch...

I feel like I'm from the future.

Nine and a half hours low and slow on an old school wood fired smoker; dry rub, no sauce, no wrap.

Delicious and moist.

I've been learning there is nothing new under the sun...just takes patience and time...most of which are in too damn short of supply in this day.
