anyone know of any good 1911 gunsmiths in norther or indiana in general? I have some wilson combat parts i need installed on my 1911 and i would like it takend care of by a gun smith. Plus he can give me a nice tune up.

Ray Saltzman of Saltzman Gun Works. Installed beavertail on my SA Mil Spec and smoothed trigger pull. Excellent work.

I'll second the recommendation of Saltzman Gun Works. I've not had him do any work, but several people I know have.

This Saltzman do work on just 1911s? Does he do any shotgun/other pistol work?

Ray Saltzman is a excellent general gunsmith. He made a custom muzzle brake and installed it on a friends Browning A-bolt. It looks like it came from the factory. He does fantastic custom revolver work too. About the only thing I have heard him say he doesn't get into is single action revolvers. Ray is an artist with a mill and lathe. His prices are very reasonable too. The only problem is that he does get very busy, so allow time. He is honest about his work load and will tell you the truth as to when he can get to your work.

+1000 Neil is awesome. Member of the American Pisolsmiths Guild, Pistolsmith of the Year a few years ago, former USPSA Area 5 director, Open shooter and one helluva nice guy. He does all of my work now.
