Cleaning the old .45 when I notice a stamp under the barrel.
started looking around and couldnt find much info on it. This barrel was in a cigar box with a 1943 rem rand frame that i found in my dads stuff, since then the gun has been completely rebuilt but i have no idea how old the barrel is.

    any pros have the answer?

here is a few pics. I could only find 2 markings.

Can not get the other photo to show up for anything..

but the stamp is 0012 and it is placed where you would often see .45 ACP on the barrel hood

    .
Check on the Colt forum, that stamp is an indicator of the manufacturer, but I can't remember which.

    .
The letter corresponds to the name of the company and there aren't a bunch of the manufacturers. There were some recent posts with somebody asking the same question that you are so I would bet it's still in current posts.
