      Finding The Perfect Holster

Gila Hayes' book is a great place to start. Visiting with other users is another good choice. A good, experienced instructor would also be invaluable. We often have new users trying 6-12 before finding what they like, and even then it gets upgraded down the road. Please do not take the "it...

Is it just a girl thing??

I would go even farther with the education aspect. Become an instructor and get involved with with a teaching team. Have a few ladies that work with our's, including my wife. Depending on where you are located, might be able to put you in touch with someone.

Started my prepping, have a couple questions

Meeting cooking needs will vary a lot, not only by the energy source you might have, or move towards, but also by the foods you will be using, and the number of people involved. One can go from solar stoves, to camp type stoves, all the way to non-electrical LP stoves/ovens. We use such a...

      Best Value Compass?

Regardless of the type and/or brand of compass, storage of same is paramount. Does not do much good when that long, or short term stored compass is no longer trustworthy. Also remember to practice/use to keep skills up.

Use of telecommunications device while driving.

The exemption for the heavy trucks is for sat based dispatching and locating. Tends to be more reading and a quick key for response. Really can't see how a hands-free device makes some people aware enough to be able to talk while driving, especially when they struggle to be able to focus on...

      Backup Generator Wiring Question...

You need to avoid any male connectors that might be energized. While it's one thing to have to make up an emergency connection, it would much safer and easier (especially for someone not familiar with your set-up) if you used the mandated double throw switch. Also consider the need for a...

      So I want a generator. . .

Welder/generators, look at Miller, Hobart (same company), then Airco and Lincoln. Two size options, roughly 5KW and 10KW. Gasoline powered, and diesel. For home use, two decisions to make first, fuel and portability. If you need it to be portable, then it will be gasoline or diesel. Diesel...

      How old is old enough?

Lots of good comments already, attitude of the child is upmost. I am not much of a fan of "toy" guns, or even BB guns. Quality pellets guns are what I start with. Good instruction is paramount. It is often found that kids respond best to non-family members. Don't push kids to do something...

Both of my daughters have requested pistols for protection!

We should be a session here shortly for ladies to wanting to purchase a handgun. Discuss the options and let them shoot a variety of handguns. Northwest of Lafayette. Provide them with enough info and experience to make their own choice.

      New guy, West Lafayette!

Glad to see you found it. Benton County, close by if you need anything.

wife wants to shoot and get permit, need some suggestions

A lot of women respond better to female instructors, my wife will often teach with me. While a bit spendy, Vickie Farnam does an excellent job. Jen Coy does as well, but she is not teaching much now with two little ones. I would suggest looking soon, we have three classes in the next month.

      What about your shotshell stash?

Couple pallets of birdshot, several hundred of back and slugs. If you are reloading shotshells, consider reloading slugs. Better performance and lower cost.

Who Owns A Dillon Reloading Press?

Two 550's, one set for small primers, one for large, a 650 with case feeder, and two SL-900's, one in 12 and one in 20.

      SHTF gun???

So much depends on the setting, an AR is a good choice, but in our flat lands, I feel a heavy caliber, something in 30 is needed. I have gone with .06, but there are other good choices.

      Living off the land..

I have been told that should things go bad, 40% of the people inside 465 will not make it past 2 weeks. Probably why there are plans in place to blockade same.

How many of you raise livestock?

Beef cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, bees, pheasants, quail. Food, eggs, pleasure, and of course honey. Most can be done in a town setting.
