Quick story: In 2004 I was at Ft. Rucker for a long-delayed WO Staff Course ( as a CW4 I was the Class Leader because I had 17 yrs time-in-grade). One of the other CW4s was former SF and a member of the White House Communications Detachment and had been there for 8 years. Met him at the Post Gym one night and asked him if he could compare the then-current CIC w/the former one he had served under. He told me: (This a paraphrase as close as I can remember it) "With the last guy, if you didn't wear the right pin (lapel pin crests which ID the various support groups) he didn't even look at you. He was never on time and never where he said he was going to be."
With this guy, he's always on time, he shakes our hand and thanks us for doing a good job and he's always polite."
I have to say, that story made me proud to be serving under him and vindicated my faith in him as a military leader.
