The variation in Kroger depending on where it is, is quite astonishing..

Kroger knows its areas, and its customers. They stock the stores with products they deem appropriate for the wealth level of the area. Go to a Kroger in a bad area, you will find cheap stuff.. go to a Kroger in better areas and you will find better stuff.

Highest end one I have seen, is the one on Michigan Street by the canal.. They have a wine vault with up to four figure wines in there.

And less then a mile away, on the same street.. is the Haughville Kroger. Lowest end Kroger I have ever seen. They don't carry anything but the cheapest crap you can find!

    Near the big river.
Waiting for my wife at the eye Dr and the liberal news was on and they were crying about the aid workers accidentally killed. It is a horrible tragedy to people trying to help. If you insert yourself into a war zone you have the expectation you may be hurt. I grieve for the families of good people.

But the media keeps harping on an accident Israel had and ignoring the horrific thing Hamas has and is doing. Murder, rape and torture by the hundreds, hundreds of hostages still being held and Israel are the bad guys for an accident.

And our media is playing right into this terrorist organization. P###es me off.

So an update. Haven't heard a word about Hamas relieving any officers/soldiers/terrorists for killing innocent people yet......

    Aid Attack Fallout
The Israeli military has dismissed two senior officers and reprimanded three others after concluding an investigation into an airstrike in Gaza earlier this week that killed seven volunteers with the World Central Kitchen. The probe found the drone team that mistook the volunteers for Hamas militants didn't have enough evidence to order the strikes and deviated from standard operating procedures.

The nonprofit, led by celebrity chef José Andrés, had been delivering aid to the enclave before the group suspended operations due to the attack. The World Central Kitchen volunteers were traveling in three vehicles marked with the group's name and emblem when the strikes happened. The Israeli military said the drone team had spotted what they assumed was a weapon over the shoulder of one of the workers. The World Central Kitchen said it had coordinated its movements with the military to avoid such incidents and that its workers were not armed. Nearly 200 humanitarian aid workers have been killed during the Israel-Hamas war, per the UN.

    Really!!

From a news feed I get called 1440.

Then there’s the Kroger affiliated spinoffs. Around here, we have the Jay-C stores. They’re not bad. They have the things you’d expect in your average Kroger stores. Then there’s the Ruler stores. Mitchell has one. Still not terrible but either bring your own bags or pay extra and don’t forget a quarter to get a cart loose from the chain gang. (I hate that store).

Sounds like Aldi. I don't mind the quarter for the carts. Never have to go search the parking lot for a cart when the bag boys haven't gone out to gather them up as often happens at my Kroger.

My wife doesn’t mind it either. If she sends me, my rule is I’m getting no more than I can carry with 2 hands. I hate that store, if I hadn’t mentioned that yet.

Thanks for sharing! I guess I shop at "Redneck Kroger" or "the shooting incident Kroger". Not really seen anything that makes it particularly "redneck", just the closest one to me.

Basically in this entire area there are only 2 actual grocery stores (other than smaller / specialty stores): Walmart & the various Kroger-owned entities. (They own Baker's, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry's, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano's, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick'n Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler, Smith's Food and Drug. And soon adding Alberson's, Safeway, Jewel-Osco, & more)

Jay-C is not too terrible (but also not good), but I'm very unimpressed with Ruler. Mariano's is quite nice, but none around here.

Most of those I'd never heard of before.

I lived at 318 W 2nd St for a little over a year before I moved to Indy in 2002. The KroGhetto was right across the street. It wasn't nearly as bad then as it is now, but we shopped at KroGucci or Walmart.

We used to have an Osco's up here. It was like if you crossed CVS with a Costco and miniaturized , just without the bulk purchase options. They even had some of those industrial storage shelves in an aisle or two. One time we went there and while my mom filled her prescriptions, I got an RC car two and a half feet long that would go 25 mph.
