Speedway yes, but not when every other small and large burg is doing the same thing all over the state. Imagine every town in the state having the same issue at the same time. The path of the eclipse, partial/total is ~115 miles wide. When the race is over the people can leave town. This time they won’t be able to. The roads will be jammed. Just a thought.
Still not reaching the level of a declared emergency. This is an overreaction by a dictator. He still believes he has covid authority.

Apparently the quakes have started already, two in the last 3 days. The one in NY is apparently by divine intervention as per MTG.
Just see how much the moon's gravity affects ocean tides.
The height of the tide difference ranges from 3.5 meters (11ft) along the southwest shore of Nova Scotia and steadily increases as the flood waters travel up the 280 km (174 miles) of shoreline to the head of the Bay where, in the Minas Basin, the height of the tide can reach an incredible 16 meters (53ft).
11' to 53' is quite a lift of the ocean, it also affects the earth's crust so it could naturally cause some exaggerated plate tectonics. (this is why I call BS on the panic that ocean levels are rising a few cm)

On top of that, the sun's gravitational pull will be added to the moon's during this event.
In fact, twice a month, during new and full moons, the moon, earth, and sun are aligned and the gravitational pull of the sun adds to that of the moon causing the ocean to bulge a bit more than usual.

I may be wrong, but there seems to be an [Edit] inverse correlation of 1.00 between the level of panic politicians push, and the actual event.

Does anyone have actual insight on state/regional mobilization related to this event?

Locally, we're just seeing the routine fair and festival preparations by people looking to cash in on transient stupidity.
(Food, t-shirt, farmers market vendors setup in random locations)

A few small town parades and amateur concerts announced.

No increased patrols or resource staging observed.

    Just curious.

Last eclipse I was under its path in Kentucky. After it was over it took me two days to get back to Indy. You have no idea. Estimate is 100,000 are expected for Franklin.
My son and I are coming from NWI to Franklin. I spent $675 for two nights at a hotel. Ugh. My son is autistic though and he just loves this kind of stuff. I'm leaving Sunday and coming back Tuesday. I'm debating whether to come tomorrow instead and possibly avoid as much traffic on 65. Idk if it will make a difference or not. I'm dreading the traffic and all the people but my son's joy is worth the stress.

Might look at US 41 or SR 63 don’t know you’re particulars but may be worth a look.

I think the worst traffic will be right after the eclipse. I got to the spot to watch last time on the day of the eclipse without much trouble.

So are we supposed to go out and shoot rifles up in the air for this?
I can see the headlines now. "Indiana man shoots at Eclipse; tells it to get off his lawn."

Although jokes aside, my smooth brain would actually like to see a video of tracers going to the blacked out sun. Just sounds cool.
