I've been watching a tom strut for the ladies since the beginning of March. Saw quite a few out on my drive home yesterday. I'm hoping for a good year at the cabin. I may actually leave the yard this year. Normally I just call and pour a cup of coffee. Have a sit on my picnic table. The yard is a daily stop to the flock.
I would take you buddy if I had a place to really hunt. Unfortunately, I don`t.
I got these 2 on my camera in our upper field on April 3rd. They were up there for quite awhile, but I haven't heard any gobbling yet. I know they are gobbling, I just haven't gotten out to listen much.
Last year about this time. Was too cold. Stayed in and drank coffee. Napped all day.
My neighbor by my property down south called me 2 weeks ago and told me there was at least 50 turkeys in my yard and there was several toms strutting with them. Like leadeye said I expect them to disperse in a few weeks.

I worked my jig last week and froze a butterball.
Ladies at Kroger were NOT impressed.
I thought my ghillie suit was solid.

Just took the Mossberg 500 wearing a Carlson turkey choke out to pattern some ammo I just picked up.
Number 5 shot seemed to have a nice, heavy, consistent shot pattern at 35 yards.
I could probably stretch these out to 45 yards, but I'll try that on paper, before the season starts.

They've been carrying on the last month or so around here. The Boss heard a couple of them this morning that were so close she could hear them over the tv. As we were coming up the drive this afternoon 3 big toms along with several hens were in the woods in front of the house.
Tried a bunch on public land over the years. Reserved hunts, draws etc. never did have any luck. Turkeys have been my Achilles heel- the one thing I’ve hunted hard and had zero success with. Had a shot at some private land with a friend this year and was hoping to give it a go again but he just had shoulder surgery so he’s out this year. The turkeys win again
