I wondered that too but not sure of the type tree?? It seems to be a hard wood tree and not a hard maple. It cuts like a hard wood lots of big chips and the picture of the bark how it shreds is different. Other pieces the whole bark comes right off

I think I will be making some little wood sheds this year…… my plan is getting 8’ corrugated metal cutting it in half and making 4x8 4’ tall wood storage using pallets for the base and 4x4 for the supports with those pre molded 4x4 porch bases or would I be better off making one long one…… after seeing my first rat on the farm I want to make sure it is far enough from the house lol

Spent half a day cutting poplar into 16 inch rounds. The bottom half of the two trees took every bit of my 32 inch bar. The worst part of a long bar is sharpening the chain. My dad suggested that I get a Granberg, and I'm glad I listened. Very easy to set up and gets any chain razor sharp.
I busted up straight grain oak, cherry, and hickory this afternoon. I’m not getting rid of my splitter, but it’s not too bad with a pile of rounds, halves, and quarters just out of frame to the right. For sale summer 2025.
Two versions I have built. The one on the right is expensive and will last for a long time. The one on the left is made from pallets and fiberglass roof. I hope to get 2 seasons out of the pallets.

Took four hours of clearing and stacking brush off my lane to get to this load. Lots of snow and ice damage in the woods.
I need a splitter. Lots of rounds back in the woods 18-20" thick. Too much to move.
Alaskan milling is a workout. All I've milled is poplar, I have a big triple crotch of a walnut to try.
What are your plans for your project?
Don't. I had one collapse (ground wasn't perfectly level) , so I'm switching to something basic (and easily torn down as I use up the wood).
3 cinder blocks, 2 landscaping timbers and two 2x4x10s cut in half.
The original ones I posted are from Amazon, and dropping in price.
It's not too bad with the mill that I'm using. It has a hand winch that takes the work out of it. Still impressed with my saw. It takes about five minutes to get through seven feet of 26 inch wide wood. Most of the wood is going to my friend's shop. He's going to build tables. Some is going to my brother's shop. He wants 10 footers to build a big dining room table.
That would work. Amazon refunded me for all 3 and two are still standing so I'm money ahead for now.
I really like the cinder blocks ones, too easy to just extra wood and blocks in the barn if I need to make another.
