I have been staging materials for a shoot shack on my property for the last year or so.
Cut offs, left over lumber, steel siding, 1/2 box of nails... anything and everything that I can use to build.
Today I decided to use some of what has been stacked and covered for some time.
I picked up a couple of dozen 2x4x12's and then moved a couple of sheets of corrugated steel when this guy popped out.
He was pissed, and tried striking at me several times.
Roughly 18"-24" long and madder than a wet hen.

I shooed him off into the woods and continued my building.

And I probably would've wet myself had it been me

Actually, most likely not. Was fishing 15 or 20 years ago, kind of out in the country along a main road, walking thru the rip-rap next to this bridge, and for whatever reason decided to look down, and there in between my feet was about a 2 1/2' copperhead all coiled up gettin' some sun. I slowly proceeded forward a few feet and then turned around to look and he was long gone. Continued fishing for another hour or two then headed home...

About 20 years ago I heard several pistol shots next door. My neighbor was shooting at a large rattle snake in her back yard but wasn't having any luck connecting. I loaded a Security Six with CCI 38 spl snake shot and from a distance of about 6 or 7 feet shot the snake. I had never used snake shot before and didn't know what to expect. The snake was coiled up and rattling to beat the band. When I fired, the snake's head just evaporated. Haven't seen a rattler since I moved to Indiana ten years ago, but I still keep CCI snake shot loads in 38 spl and 45 Colt, just in case.

If by shooing you mean shooting… I’m there, don’t like snakes, don’t want snakes around, except corn snakes in a barn.. but I’m still leery….

I popped a rattler with a 22 out in Yellowood some number of years ago. They are very intimidating when you aren't expecting them.

Was stacking rocks to make weirs in my creek this spring... had been at it for a couple weeks... finally one day, picked up a rock with a sleeping water snake under it... Started carrying a rake to move the rocks.

Got a dry bite years ago from something near our pond. Never saw what it was because the weeds were waist high.

Had the same problem a few days back. Buddy was building a roof for a dog house and moved a few pieces of paneling, there sat two corn snakes. Had me come over and blast em. Now the little .22 has two confirmed kills!
