YES! 75 on 465 in the middle off the afternoon in light traffic is nothing. What causes problems are idiots that try to run those same speeds (and higher) during rush hour. And to maintain speed they start in the left lane and will quickly zip 4 lanes or more over to the right lane to find a hole to continue at speed. THAT is what causes the accidents, not the raw speed.
The idiots are definitely one of the most dangerous of the bunch. The best way to avoid these people is to move away from them, you don't have to deal with other drivers if nobody lives near you :twocents:

And they also happen more often during cool, dry, daylight weather. Both of those rare things happen only because more folks drive around town where the speed limits are under 40 and during cool dry daylight times.
True, so shows speed and speed limits are not the go to opinion that it’s speed that causes accidents.

I grew up on the DC beltway when HW speeds were at 55mph, speeds on 496, 70,270,95,695 and so on have huge high speed, speeding problems. When accidents do happen at 90 to 110 mph, it's bad.
Md DC and VA don't have the Hoopies on the road that Indiana have.

Costs me my $125k job if I do. So no. Mine does not have those options.
I have a cousin that before retirement owned a few refrigerated TT, he was sleeping and woke up in WV, with a State Trooper having them stopped. He said as he was climbing out of the cab his new tandem driver was telling the trooper he hit triple digits he was well in control of his truck.
My cousin told the Trooper his truck would do triple digits.
The other driver said it will in Georgia overdrive. My cousin said, Your fired.. he's all yours Trooper.

"Speed kills", so I've heard. What we really need is one speed limit for all vehicles, and 3 lane interstates. I get tired of the semis trying to leapfrog past one another at 66mph while 80+ mph cars are stacking up 40 deep for 5 miles behind them. Not blaming the trucks, but the roads and speed limits.

The law would improve nothing. No matter what speed is designated, there will always be clowns who will exceed it. The drivers doing 85 onn a 70-mph road now, are not going to drive the speed limit if it is increased to 75-mph.

Hasn't got me yet As a foolish youth it had several shots at me on fast motorcycles but thankfully, I outgrew that phase. I have scars to prove it.

And this is exactly why speed laws are a farce, The Law won't make anyone change the speeds they do, it just gives enforcement 5mph less of an incentive to bother us on our travels!

Too bad the speed demon from the St. John area, CTwhatever his name was, got KUTT. He would have been entertaining on this thread.
