As the arm brace rule is about to take effect for pistols, etc. I thought that this might also be a subject for concern. From what I have heard, arm braces on any of these similar guns isn't authorized. It seems like ATF is saying that arm braces were never allowed for Shockwaves, etc., but still are ok with the birds head grip. Anybody have any authoritative information?

I have wondered about this also. ATF backtracks on so many things that it's actually frustrating that they seem to get by with these actions with no penalty except to be investigated by Congress. Funding should be withheld and not returned and their "services" be at the same level or higher and no, I don't mean messing with Americans.

The rule would reclassify pistols as short-barreled rifles if they have a stabilizing brace attachment, even though many disabled veterans and other Americans rely on these braces to use their firearms. “The new rule on pistol braces is a gross violation of Americans' Second Amendment rights…
Hopefully the lawsuit wins or they don’t succeed on banning these smh clear over reach

After seeing all the posts over the years of people with braces on Tac-14's and Shockwaves on other forums and Youtube, I was surprised to learn that the AFT supposedly never approved of braces on these firearms after the final rule came out. It obviously would make them easier to shoot accurately, but the AFT evidently doesn't care about that. I just need to suck it up and Form 1 my Shockwave and bee done with it.

I have 2 short uppers for an AR-15 but only one lower with a brace, I just switch out to the caliber I want.
Do I have to buy another lower with a brace to form 1 both of them or do I need to form 1 the lower I already have and not worry about uppers as they don't have serial numbers ?
I cant seem to get or find the answer to this question.

wouldn't mess with any braces at all until either:

ATF is disbanded and ruled unconstitutional
    or
Major legislative clarification is issued and a law is passed that says SBR/SBS rules are clearly defined

Neither is likely within the next 2 years.

as I understand we only have until the end of the month of may to fill out a form 1 for free after that we have to pay the $200 , and when they set a date not having a form 1 will result in criminal charges for possessing a SBR .
Am I being told correctly or am I missing something ?

As I understand it, since the TAC 14 and Shockwaves were never approved for use with an arm brace, they are not a part of the "grace period" to waive the $200 tax stamp. As for pistols with an arm brace, I believe you are correct, but don't take my opinion as fact. Of course, trying to get a clear and authoritative answer from any official government source is like trying to herd cats.

Yep. I've shot hundreds of rounds through mine. no problem holding it in front of my face and aiming it.
Not everyone has the same strength level. The only thing I've found is that I lose the grip on the forend, even with a strap wrapped around the back of my hand.

I'm out of my element to speak with a lot of personal experience on scatterguns.

That said, my study of trainers addressing shotgun recoil management, for long and short guns, is that technique matters a lot.

From the old Magpul "art of..." instruction CD, to the modern youtube instruction like Demonstrated Concepts puts out, there is technique to be learned to manage recoil.

I can attest that these techniques can work. Also of note is there is a fair amount of video out there where petite females handle the scary 12 gage with authority.

Technique certainly makes a huge difference - I won a Turkey Shoot at around age 12 with a 12ga and then didn't fire a shotgun for a few decades - as a grown man it felt like it kicked 100x harder than I remembered.
