I’m hiring, might be a bit of a commute. But you’ll have full use of an empty wearhouse and all the junk food and soda you want. Also all you do is watch YouTube or Netflix 95% of the time. Or tinker with stuff. The pay sucks but I got you…

22LR Revolver and bullet comparisons! Fun!

I'm not listing each bullet diameter of the ammo used during testing at the range, because they had no correlation with keyholing/accuracy. Of 9 different kinds they measured from 0.223" - 0.2245". The muzzle velocities listed are pulled from the internet and are not my own, nor do I know what the test gun's barrel length was. Going by the ammo tested, it appears the H&R 929 likes a heavier 42gr bullet or a velocity of 1130fps and above, or both. Obviously, the velocities out of my actual gun will be less, since it's only a 4" barrel and I'm pretty sure ammo manufacturers use rifles for their ammo testing.

    H&R 929
    Bore size: 0.2225"
    Chamber throats: 0.2275" - 0.228"

    Best accuracy and NO keyholing:
    - Eley Action Plus @ 2.07" (42gr 1250fps)
    - Eley Force @ 2.20" (42gr 1250fps)
    - Aguila SV @ 2.58" (40gr 1130fps)

Worse accuracy than above AND keyholing:
    CCI SV (40gr 1070fps)
    Eley Club (40gr 1085fps)
Eley Semi Auto Benchrest Precision (40gr 1070fps)
    Eley Target (40gr 1090fps)
    Norma Tac-22 (40gr 1100fps)
    RWS Rifle Match (40gr 1082fps)

For comparison's sake, here are my other 2 revolver measurements.

    H&R 922
    Bore size: 0.2235"
    Chamber throats: 0.225" - 0.226"

    Ruger Wrangler
    Bore size: 0.224"
    Chamber throats: 0.2265"

I think this reinforces that you need that longer barreled 929 :stickpoke:

I don't understand how a .22LR can keyhole in that short of a distance unless it has the rifling filled with lead or is a smoothbore. Makes me think I may not know everything yet. What is the twist rate?

I don't know what the twist rate is. I'll get some pics of the keyholing from 15 yards. The leading would have to be so bad that it looks like a really clean barrel. Is that even possible? Serious question.
