I picked up a used howa 1500 - 22-250. scoped the barrel, not too bad. No copper but has some hard carbon buildup. I tried JB, some came off but still alot still there.
    Any suggestions?

I use Simichrome for cylinder burn marks on my revolvers and such. Little bit on a qtip rubbed in to let it soak, then polish off, and repeat when necessary. Found out this is what Harley-Davidson uses on their stuff. You can purchase online or if you have a Harley dealer nearby, they'll likely sell you a tube (this tube has lasted me years). It is not that expensive.

Take a foam ear plug, roll it up, plug the muzzle end of the barrel, stand the barreled action up , in a plastic coffee can, fill barrel with your favorite kroil/hoppes/sea foam ect, set in the closet or out of the way, for get a out for a few days, ......get a "bore snake" these do wonders for getting leading and other fouling out in my opinion......saw you were asking about rebarreling the gun......don't give up on it yet...

I was thinking of doing this. I didn't which solvent could be in the barrel for days.
